Interturn Short-Circuit Fault Detection of a Five-Phase Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor

Interturn short circuits are a common fault of permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs). This paper proposes new method to detect the interturn short-circuit (ISCF) five-phase PMSM. The first takes command voltage and measured current each phase winding as original signal then obtains delay orthogonal via Hilbert transform. Then, generalized instantaneous reactive power can be calculated from signals phase. Finally, influence ISCF on is analyzed under different working conditions. By comparing difference in phase, it determined which has ISCF. proposed verified by simulated experimental results.
